The Wesleyans held a meeting to consider the report of the Iter. Dr. Brown's reprisals on the Natives for massacres in New Britain. A resolution was carried expressing sympathy with his difficult position, but regretting that no other course was open to him to secure the safety of himself and party. The Roman Catholics in Sydney are using great, exertions to erect a Cathedral. It is considered that it will be sufficiently advanced for use by the 'expenditure of L 15.000. The reason assigned by the Marine Board for suspending the certificate of the captain of the City of Newcastle is that, although all precautious had been taken, he should not have gone into cabin when so near a port. The Rotorua brings Burton's Circus and the following southern passengers : Mrs Watt and four children, Mrs. Baker, Capt. Lawrence, Mr. and Mrs. Steward, and Messrs. Poole, Baker, Twenty-man ; and six in the steerage.
