MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

The nominations in connection with the annual elections of Councillors and Auditors took place at noon.,to-day, and was the most tame affair of the kind that we have ever attended. In no case was there more than the required number of candidates proposed, and' the whole proceedings consisted of the reading of • the advertisement fixing the election, the announcement of the nominations, and the formal declaration of the return of .all the candidates. Before any of the gentlemen elected had an opportunity of thanking the ratepayers, the score or so of electors present left the room with a rush, and the proceedings were brought to an abrupt termination. His Worship the Mayor presided as returning officer. The following gentlemen were proposed and declared duly elected : COUNCILLORS. Thames Ward —Mr. James Wilson Humphrey, proposed by Mr. John Bain and seconded hy Mr. James Markltam. Severn Ward—Mr. Samuel Gibbs, proposed by Mr. Lewis Morton and secoi.ded bv Mr. Elias E. Harding. "Jetty Ward—Mr. John Mainland, proposed by Mr. Henry Aitken and seconded by Mr. William Bee. High Ward—Mr. Alfred J. S. Headland, proposed by Mr. William H. Ronayne and seconded by Mr. Richard Butt. ATjDITOIiS. Mr. John Locke, proposed by Mr-. Frank Diiiilup and seconded hy Mr. Thomas Hood Brown.

Mr. John Church, proposed by Mr Arthur G. Creagh and seconded by Mr Richard Batfc.

The proceedings terminated with a vote of thanks to the returning officer, accorded on the motion of Mr. Humphrey, seconded bv Mr. Gihbs.
