The Australian Cricketers played against Eleven of Cambridge University, at Lords. The first innings of the University closed for 285, the highest scorer being the Hon. A. Lyttelton, with 72. The first innings of the Australians closed for 111. C. Bannerman. 12 ; Murdoch, 47 ; Horan, Spofforth, Blackham, all nil; Gregory, 5 ; Garrett, 13 ; Bailey, 5 ; Allan, 12 ;
Boyle, 9, A. Bannerman, 1; sundries, 7. The Cambridge bowling was very effective, Morton alone taking seven wickets. The bowling of the Australians was considerably knocked about. The attendance was enormous. The wickets splendid and the weather is hot. July 22.
Mr. Sullivan, in the House of Commons, moved for a new writ for Clare, in consequence of the absence of Sir B. O'Loghlen. Mr. Gladstone, speaking for'the Liberals, at Southwell, and Mr. Forster, at the Cobden Club, denounced the convention with Turkey. Enthusiastic meetings have been held in Italy, against Austria and in favor of Greece.

DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS. (SPECIAL TO THE PRESS AGENCY.) Melbourne, July 22. Youngße'zique won the Waterloo Cup ; runner up, Pry. Electric won the Plate, with Rowena runner up. Dr. Bradford still remains in gaol. The Court has granted a stringent injunction fo prevent his touching his property.
