ORIGINAL CORRESPONDENCE.
TO THE EMTOB OF THE EVENING MATL. Sir,—=As a constant reader of the Mail, I hope you will be so kind as to insert the following :—" A telegraph message was delivered to a well-known business man in Thames-street, and, according- to the address, it was to he delivered by him to me, the undersigned. He sent the telegram to me last night, at half-past 7 p.m. (Monday, 22nd July, 1878). It was delivered to him from the Telegraph Office, Oamaru, at half-past 1 p.m. on the 28th June. So, Mr. Editor, you will soe that he kept my message for twenty-four days and six hours in, hia possession, whilst he knew rtiy address well. I write the above with an idea of getting some advice from v-ur, Mr. Editor, or some of your ■ ciders, as I am a poor man and cannot afford to pay half-a-gtiinea to a lawyer for advice. I want to know if I have got any claim by law on the> perpetrator of the act. —I am, <S>.c„ Justice. [lf our correspondent is anxious to know how to act in the matter ho has related above, we would reqonimend him to consult a. lawyer, Cheap law is invariably productive of more harm than good. Although we are of opinion that having reoonrse to law is at any time a mistake, if it can be avoided.—Ed. E. M.]
