AUCKLAND.
May 29. At a meeting of the Waitamata County Council, Mr. Dilworth said he had been informed by the member for Wnitemata only this morning, that the Government wore making arrangements for the employment of 20,000 natives, at 3.05. per day, for the construction of a railway from "Waikato to Taranaki. The Council resolved to represent again to the Govern*ment the delay in letting the middle contract of the Kaipara railway. A letter'from Mr. Macaudrew re vote of L4o,oofi for tlie Provincial District of Auckland, states that payment thereof
depends on the loan being negotiated by Mr. Larnach.
