RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Pakkbr, Eeq., R.M.) DRUNK AND DISORDERLY. John Shires was charged with having been drunk and disorderly on the gaol premises on Saturday. The accused, who had been admitted to bail, did not appear, and was fined ss. George Peton, a lad of about eighteen years of age, was charged with having been drunk aud disorderly in Tees-street last evening. Sub-Inspector Smith stated that the accused, amongst a number of other boys, had succeeded in getting hold of some liquor somewhere, and he had become so drunk that he was unable to walk. He would not tell where he obtained the liquor, but said he had got it at a public house. He (Sub-Inspector Smith) did not believe that any publican would supply the boys with drink. Sergeant Beatty gave evidence as to the state in which he found the accused, and said it was with difficulty he was removed to the lock-up. His Worship inflicted a fine of 55., with the option of 24 hours' imprisonment. INDECENT BEHAVIOUR. George Moore, an ill-looking individual, was charged on remand with having been guilty of indecent behaviour at Teaueraki on the 23rd instant. Two witnesses were examined, the evidence, which is unfit for publication, showing that the conduct of the prisoner, had been of the filthiest description. The prisoner, in his defence, pleaded that he had been drinking heavily for ■ three or four days, and had no recollection of the occurrence. His Worship ordered him to be imprisoned in the Dmiedin gaol for nine months with hard labour. AN UNREGISTERED DOG. James darken was charged by the Inspector of Nuisances with having an unregistered dog in his possession.

The defendant said that the dog did not belong to him, and ho did not know who owned it. The dog was in the habit of following his wife, and remaining about his premises. The Inspector gave evidence to the effect that the defendant had in a previous year registered the dog as his property. His Worship said lie would adjourn the matter until to-morrow, in order to look into the Act.
