(per press agency.) WELLINGTON. April 10. The Colonial Bank has just completed the purchase of St. Andrew's Church (Rev. Mr. Ogg's) in Lambton Quay, having sixty feet frontage, for the sum of L 125 per foot. A company has been formed here for a Fire and Marine Insurance Company, under the title of the Colonial ; capital, L 2,000,000 in LlO shares, of which 10s. a share will be payable, making LIOO,OOO cash capital. The directors are of high standing and large property. Amongst those intei-ested are the Hon. C. J. Pharazyn, Randall Johnston, Dr. Grace, Messrs Jacob Joseph, Brandon (M.H.R,), Walter Nathan, and JJ. W. Mills. Onehalf of the capital will be placed by private negotiation with influential persons throughout the Colony prior to commencing business. The remaining shares will be held for distribution in successive issues to actual insurers, in proportion to the insurance premiums paid by them. The following are the particulars of the City of New York's voyages to and from San Francisco :—She left Auckland on the 6th February, and arrived at Honolulu on February 19, at 10 a.m. ; left for San Francisco the same day at 6 p.m., and arrived there on the 26th, making the run from Auckland in twenty-one days nine hours. Delivered the mails at the Post Office at 5 a.m. on the 27th, in time for the overland train that morning. She left San Francisco with the outward mails on the 19th March, arriving at Honolulu on the 26th ; sailed again the same day for Auckland, arriving there at 9 p.m. yesterday, having taken only twenty days sixteen hours on the voyage from San Francisco. A snow blockade on the overland route from New York to San Francisco detained all the trains four days, but the line was cleared just in time for the mails to pass without detention. The following animals have died since commencing the Australasian tour :—A pair of warhogs, 1 giraffe, 1 panther, 1 lion, 3 lion cubs, 1 tiger, 1 laughing liyama, 1 hippopotamus, 1 barking sea' lion, 10 apes and monkeys, 4 kangaroos, 1 zebra, 1 seal, and 2 horses. Another man named Arthur FrederickWilson has been arrested on suspicion of being in the recent garotting case. Sir John Cracroft Wilson addressed the electors of the Cheviot district yesterday, expressing his antagonism to the present Government. At the conclusion of his address, a vote of confidence was unanimously carried. There were 12 persons present. _ $ AUCKLAND. April 10. Sir G. Grey was well received at Hamilton, Waikato. Triumphal arches were erected, and addresses of welcome presented. e TAURANGA. April 10. The Wolverine, with the Governor, arrived yesterday. The Governor, Commodore, "and suite, landed at the town wharf, having left the Wolverine under Royal salute and yards manned. They were met at the wharf by the Town Board and the principal townspeople. An address was read by Mr. Edgecombe, chairman of the Town Board, and another by Hokepa Kikutai Ngatangi, a chief. His Excellency replied, and then walked to the cemetery to see the graves of the Gate pah heroes. His Excellency then drove out to the site of the Gate pah. The Governor expressed himself much pleased at the public reception. The town and wharf were tastefully decorated and carpeted, and a handsome archway erected. The Governor, Commodore, and suite, started for the Lakes at eight o'clock this morning. The Hon. Mr. Fisher arrived last night, and accompanied the Governor to-day.
