January 7. The Dunedin cricketers will play 22 against the Australian 11. Spring has been appointed captain. The team are Millington and Nichols (Oamaru), Everest and Spencer (Palmersr.on), Moore (Balclutha), Downes (Lawrence), Crawsliaw (Albion Club), Austin, Cargill, Dixon, Fulton, M'Neill, and Rose (Carisbrook Club), Clark, Gien, Hask-11, Macfarlane, Aiorrison, Paramor, Rhodes, Spring, and Suf.cliiiV; (Dunedin Club) Emergency men —Douglas (Albion Chili), Fawuett (Dunedin Club), Niven (Oariahrook Club), Jones and Shelton (Alhion Club). At the Supreme Court, Rookes pleaded guilty to arson at Balelutha, and was sentenced to a year's imprisonment. Jessie Kilpatrick, charged with robbery from the person, received three years. The Grown and private prosecutor both decline to take the responsibility of entering a nolle prosequi in Proudfoot's case, of which tlie Court for the present knows nothing.
