December 24. A fire has just occurred at James' furniture store, Bridge-street. It broke out in the back premises, which were a mass of iiame before the alarm was. given. The brigade was soon out, and with a splendid"water supply and by hard work succeeded in subduing the Haines and confining the fire to tlm'bnilding. Insurance on building, L.IOO in .Hoya! ; on stock, LSOO- in Ale tori a ; and LSOO eaeli in linviil and jSathmal. The stock was valued" at L 2.000. A good deal was saved, but most of it is damaged.
