The Chamber of Commerce this afternoon voted LSO towards the purchase of New Zealand woollen yarns, with a viewto assisting Mr. Monckton Syimot, of Melbourne, to prosecute his experiment of developing a market for New Zealand and Australian wools in China for manufactures in cloth, composed of wool and native cotton. A sample of this Chin ese cloth is exhibited here." CHRISTCHURCH. December 19. At a meeting of shareholders in the Company formed some time ago, for recovering gold from the wreck of the General Grant, at the Auckland Isles, it appears that L2OOQ out of L2SQO of capital, has been expended with no practical result, and a feeling was displayed in favor of winding up the Company. Ultimately the accounts were referred to a comm'ittpo to report at a future meeting. The barque C encoe, on her voyage from Auckland to IJateman's Bay, on November 30. in hit. 35deg. 22min. S., long. ldodeg.' 20min. E., sighted the French barque Belle de l i! rontijin, Captain Allan Roux, 78 days' out from Marseilles, bound for Noumea. A sua had struck the vessel off St. Paul's, carrying away her bulwarks, stauiichions, watercasks, and everything on deck, and she had to heave a large portion uf her cargo overboard. The crew had had no water Cor thirty daya. The Gilenooe relieved iier. The mail steamer City of Sydney, for San Francisco, had only five passengers from Auckland, and three from Wellington.
