GRAHAMSTOWN. November 28,

At the annual meeting of the County Council to-day, Mr. Alexander Brodie was unanimously re-elected Chairman. The salary was increased from L2OO to L3OO a year.

CHRISTCHURCH. November 28,

The Mayoral election, resulted somewhat unexpectedly in favour of Mr. Thomson. The votes were —H. Thomson, 474 ; James Gapes, 461; majority for Thomson, 13.

GREYMOUTH. November 28,

At the annual ixieeting of the County Council to-day the Chairman and all the Councillors held that under the 54fch section, the Chairman might retain his seat until November, 1878, but in order that no difficulty might hereafter arise Mr. Gtiinneas resigned the Chairmanship and was unanimously re-elected. He then made a financial statement showing the receipts since the establishment of the County to be L 11,542, and the expenditure L 13,180, of which L 10,539 was on public works. The Councillors considered that the County system had worked well here, and that financially the condition of the County is sound. BLUFF.. November 28. Arrived—s.s. Aihambra.
