NORTHERN AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the Committee of the above Association was held at the Secretary's o!tice to-day, when there were present - Messrs. Duncan (in the chah), Steward, Dunlop, M'Lennai), Donaldson, Morton, Aikeuhead, Henderson, Orr, Stevenson, M'Donald, Mitchell, Booth, Curystal, iiedley, Cr.Jg, and Church (Secretary). MIX JIB'S ETC - The minutes of the last meeting were read and con tinned, and the outward correspondence read and approved. PROTESTS. Mssrs. C. ami J. M. Todd entered a protest against any sheip dog being awarded a prize except their own, on tiie ground that the rules of the Society necessitated all dog.-s competing for te.o prizes being on the ground on the first day of the show, an-1 t'lat their dog was the oi-ly one so exhibited. After some discussam tue protest was allowed as against the dogs competing on the s -cond clay, and it was also resolved to disqualify Mr. Todd's do, r , as it had not been presented for trial on the second da}'.. Mr. W. Craig protested against Mr. Menlove's bull Lord Maca.day r c cei\ing the prize for two-year-old buds, on the ground that it was over age, and stated that it had taken the second prize as a yearling iu 1875, when five months and a day old, and the first prze as a yearling iu 1876. Messrs. Duncan, Orr, and M'Leiinan were appointed to inquire into the matter, with power to act.
THE DINNER. There was a lengthy and animateil dis- i cus&imi wit!i n fv rence to tlio non-success j <if the anneal dinner, during which it was suggested that in future there should he no such gathering. This was strongly opposed by several members, who attributed the failure of the late dinner to the fact of very few members attending it or taking tickets. Others, however, blamed the Dinner Committee for the ali'air not having been a success. Eventually, the matter was allowed to drop. ACCOUNTS. The accounts worn lvfern-d to the Finance Committee; with instructions to examine aiul deal with them. TUE LATH SHOW. Mr. Craig drew attention to the fact that several of the owners of stock which took first and s.-'cond prizes on the first day of the show had not placed their stock on exhibition on the second day, as required by the rules of the Association. After some discussion, during which it was pointed out that the rules made no provision for the imposition of any penalties, and that no action could therefore be taken, the matter was allowed to stand over until the next general meeting. WAIKOUAITI SHOW. Mr. Craig having announced that he would be unable to attend the Waikoiiaiti Show as a judge of shorthorned cattle, Mr. Henderson was appointed to fill the position. The meeting then terminated with a Tote of thanks to the Chairman.
