The New Zealand Shipping Company's ship Pareora arrived at Port Chalmers at daybreak this morning. She brings 33 passengers and 1300 tons of cargo. Left London on July 27, and had S.W. winds down the Channel. Landed pilot off Eddystone on the 31st. Took her departure with a light northerly wind, which carried her into the N.E. trades in lat. 31 N. Crossed the equator on the 26th August. Had fresh S.E. trades well to the southward. Lost them in lat. 28 S., and thence experienced S.W. winds right across the southern ocean. Passed the Snares on the 25th inst, and was off this port on the morning of the 27th. Was driven off the land by the late N.W. gale, and towed in this morning.
