(FROM TIIH PIC KSS AIIKXCV.) O WELLINGTON. October 17. The very strongest indignation is expressed about town this morning at Mr. Muckay's sentence. A committee of six was formed last night, who are getting signatures to a petition for his release today all over the town. Another copy is being numerously signed at a booksellers' shop in the centre of the town. The Times this niorninur strongly condemns the action of the Bench of Justices. Darre.ll announces her recovery. Thomas Root-*, a groom, charged with having sec tire to the Crown Hotel stables, Baklutha has been committed for trial. © AUCKLAND. October 17. Capt. Carey's house and furniture were insured for L4~O in the National. His loss is verv henvv.
