The Russians are now reinforced. The attack on Osman Pasha by the Russians is now looked for. It is expected to be a battle of the most bloody character. The prosecution of Gambetta for • a speech at Lille being determined on, draws attention to affairs in France, where complications arc anticipated. (renter's telegrams, per press agency.) Bombay, August 28, 12.22. A Rnsssian official despatch says that they maintained their positions at Shipka Pass, at noon on Sunday. Servia has resolved to co-operate with the Russians in Bulgaria. THE POLICY OF ENGLAND. Bombay, August 28, 7.25. Sir S. Northeote stated at Plymouth that England's was a peace policy, but if her interests required atrength, she would be quite equal to the occasion ; otherwise, she would observe neutrality until friendly intervention were possible in order to end the war. DIRECT AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Sydney, August 29. The drought is over in the pastoral districts of West, where it has been raining steadily since yesterday.
