WHERE WAS THE INSPECTOR OF NUISANCES?

TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING MAIL. Sir,—l read with a sort of rapture the account of the dinner g'.ven by the Mayor to the good folks who serve our town so faithfully and for so little of honour and pay. The speeches, the songs, the compliments so gracefully scattered around on each other,—the good things solid and fluid which Corporations always have been famous for taking without much effort,—present to my imagination something very pleasant indeed. 1 was rejoiced to know that the Corporation Gardener. and the City Laureate were present, but oh ! where, where was the Inspector of Nuisances'?—why, why, oh! why was he not present too ? Please to satisfy the public and me by giving this information to his admirer, A. B.
