OAMARU HOSPITAL.

The reffirfdrmonthly Meeting of the the above institution wa3 heWkst evening at the Secretary's office. There were present —Messrs. J. Booth, President (in the chair). T. H. Brown, Robertson, Steward, Dunn, Townsend, Morris, Flett, Mainland, Taylor, Mcintosh, and the Secretary (Mr. W. J. Church). MINUTES. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. OUTWARD CORRESPONDENCE. A quantity of outward correspondence was read and approved. DONATIONS. A letter was read from Mr. Geo. Greenfield, Secretary to the Oamaru Steeple-

chase Club, inclosing L 6, being L 3 as the amount accruing from the Hospital Race and L 3 from Mr. F. W. O. Grant, the winner of the stakes in race, who authorised Mr. Greenfield to hand the money to the Hospital. It was resolved on the motion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Mainland, " That the thanks of the Committee be forwarded by letter to the Oamaru Steeplechase Club, and to F. W. 0. Grant, Esq., for their respective donations to the funds of the Hospital." COKKONIANS' ENTERTAINMENT. Two letters were read from the Hon. Secretary of the Calcined Corkonians, the first of which intimated that the Company had agreed to give an entertainment, as requested, in aid of the funds of the Hospital. The second letter informed the Committee that the Corkonians had decided that the entertainment should take place on Tuesday, 10th July, and requested the Committee to appoint a subCommittee to assist in the disposal of tickets and the arrangement of various matters in connection with the performance. On the motion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Townsend, it was resolved, " That a Sub-Committee, consisting of the President, Vice-President, Messrs. M'lntosh, Mainland, Morris, and Robertson, be appointed to meet the Corkonians tomorrow evening, and to act with them in the matter of arranging for the proposed entertainment."

CHURCH COLLECTIONS. A letter was read from the Rev. Mr. Ryley, forwarding the sum of L 9 Bs. 4d., as the result of collections made in the Presbyterian Church in the Otepopo district. A communication was also received from the Rev. Mr. Steven, handing to,, the Committee L 6 195., the amount col-~ lected in the Papakaio district. The Secretary intimated that he had thanked both those gentlemen on behalf of the Committee. VISITING COMMITTEE'S REPORT. The report of the Visiting Committee was read as follows : " Oamaru, 19th June, 1877. " To the Secretary, Hospital Committee. " The Visiting Committee beg to report that in visiting the Hospital, they find the patients at present number six—four female and two male. During the month three patients have been admitted—two male and one female. There have been six discharged —five male and one female. As resolved at the last meeting, the Committee have erected one new closet, and covered over a cesspool with tongued and grooved timber, but have to report the other closet as doubtful for re-erecting. The quick hedge is at present being cleaned, and but for the unfavourable weather, would have been finished. " The Committee, as urged by the Warden, engaged the services of a female servant, but quite agree with the suggestion at last meeting that the matter of assistance should be fully considered, and dealt with by the whole Committee. " The annexed accounts we have fouud correct, and herewith hand in for payment. "J. G. Flett. " F. H. Townsend. " Wm. M'lntosh." A lengthy discussion took place on various matters in connection with the report, more particularly in regard to the increase of attendands at the Hospital. A very general opinion was expressed that there was no necessity for maintaining so large a staff at present, especially in the present state of the funds of the institution. On the motion of Mr. Steward, seconded by Mr. Dunn, it was resolved, "That the report be £ received, and the service of the male assistant warder be dispensed with, the Secretary to give the necessary notice." SUBSCRIPTIONS. A list of subscriptions collected since May 22nd was laid on the table, showing that L 39 16s. 4d. had been obtained. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of L 54 13s. 9d. were passed for payment. COLLECTOR. Tt was resolved, " That a collector be advertised for, remuneration to be 10 per cent, on amount collected, security to the amount of LIOO to be required, and applications to be sent in to the Secretary on or before the 23rd inst. A vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the proceedings.
