Evening Mall Office, Wednesday. MARKET REPORT. Wheat.—A good deal of excitement has been evinced in this market, and an advance of fully 6d per bushel has been established, caused by the Australian statistics showing a large deficiency in grain. Several large sales have been effected at quotations given below. Oats. —Large transactions have taken place at an advance of fully 6d per bushel, and purchasers are in the market for large quantities. Barley is still unsaleable, with no prospect of improvement, as brewers are fully supplied. Flour has advanced 20s per ton, and millers are declining orders, as a further rise is expected. Pollard and Bran" are in good demand, and an advance of 10s per ton has taken place. Oatmeal has also improved in proportion to the rise in oats. Potatoes have been largely dealt in at a slight advance. The following are the quotations, f.o.b.: — Wheat, 6s to 6s 3d. Oats, 3s to 3s 3d. Barley, nominal, 4s. Flour, LIT to LIT 10s. Pollard, L 6. Bran, L 4. Potatoes, L 3. Oatmeal, Ll4 10s. AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. Messrs. Fleming and Hedley (under instructions from Henry Driver, Esq.) report that they held a sale yesterday, at fcjcliluter's yards, on account of Messrs. Honour Bros. There was a fair attendance, and all the lots submitted found purchasers at the following rates :—45 head of fat cattle were brought to the hammer, and were eagerly competed for by the trade ; Ist pen of 6 bullocks sold atLll; 2nd pen, at LlO 15s; 3rd pen of T cows, L 9 15: 4th pen of T cows, LS Ts 6'd : sth pen of small steers, 19 10 ; 6th pen of steers, L 9; Tth pen of S cows and small steers, LS 15s. Quiet 3-earlings brought from L 3 Ts fa'd to L 4 ss. Dairy cows sold at extreme rates : good cows, about 3 weeks calved, from Ll4 to Ll6. The two-year-old Ayrshire heifer, by T. Duncan's bull Earl Percy, after a very spirited run, was knocked down at LIT 10s ; inferior cows from LS to LlO 10s. Horses, very inferior old draughts, from Ll2 to Lls 5s ; yearling colts and fillies, Ll2 to L2l ; pair of very handsome Goldfinders were sold at L 35, to George M'Lean, Esq. ; 3 foals fetched L3S 10s; other horses at fair value. DUNEDIN COMMERCIAL. The amount of revenue collected at the Custom-house, Dunedin, on Monday, was £440 Ts. 9d.
