DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.

A destructive fire occurred at four o'clock tin's morning in Walker-street. The Rising Sun Hotel, tenanted by Mrs. Melican, Carter's grocery s'ore, a small drapery shop kept by Mrs. Palmer, r.,id a dwelling-house at the rear were all burned down. The buildings were all of wood. The fire broke out between the hotel and store, but the origin is unknown. The buildings belonged to Mr. Elson, whose private brick house alongside the hotel prevented the fire from spreading up the street. The hotel stock and furniture were insured for L2OO in the Royal, and the hotel building itsel for L2OO in the Norwich. The cottage was also insured for LIOO in the Norwich and the store for £2OO in the Norwich and New Zealand Companys. Mrs. Melican lost Ll5O in notes and gold.
