The charge of criminal libel against Sherrin was heard to-day before Mr. Woollcombe, R.M. The statements contained in the alleged libel were all denied upon oath by the prosecutor, Mr. G. M. Reed, and the authorship was proved by several witnesses. No defence was offered, but the prisoner's counsel, Mr. O'Meagher, vigourously cros J-examinedthe prosecutor. Accused was committed for trial, bail being allowed in two sureties of £IOO each. and himself in £2OO.
