HARBOUR BOARD.

The following business was transacted at the Harbour Board meeting after our reporter left yesterday : ABSENT MEMBERS. A discussion in reference to two absent members —Messrs. Wait and Lees —took place, Mr. Shrimski expressing surprise that the gentlemen named had not resigned before they left the Colony. It was ultimately proposed by Mr. Shrimski, and seconded by Mr. Reid, "That Messrs. Wait and Lees having- left the Colony without tendering their resignation thereby throwing all responsibility on the other members —the Board deem it advisable to fill up their places."—The motion was put and lost, there voting—Ayes: Messrs. Shrimski, Reid, and Borrie. Noes : Messrs. Gilchrist, Steward, Headland, Lemon, and Meek. MESSES. WALKEM AND PEYMAN. - A letter was read from Messrs. Walkem and Peyman, stating that they had been prevented from tendering for the new works in consequence of their claims not having been settled, and objecting to the Board letting any new contract until the matter is arranged. It was resolved, " That the Engineer make a legal tender to Messrs. Walkem and Peyman of the amount of the final certificate, and failing their accepting the same, that the Engineer take such steps as may be deemed necessary, under the advice of the Board's solicitor." TENDERS. The tenders were then opened, and were found to be as follows : David Miller— £ s. d. Millt tender, with the stipulation that he commence work as soon as he is put in possession of the plant.
