THE POLICE AND THE PUBLICANS.
Dunedin, March 7.
The Dunedin police have commenced a raid against the publicans, for the erecting of more than one bar inside their licensed premises. Considerable consternation has ensued amongst the barmaids who are likely to be thrown out of employment. Working-men and employers will, in future, be jumbled together in the same bar. The first prosecution in the Police Court yesterday was withdrawn, as the landlord promised to remove the objectionable taproom, and make no distinction between constables and Justices.
