MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

A special meeting of the Council took place this morning. Present: His Worship the Mayor and Councillors Mainland, Gibbs, Morion, Booth, riv\ Scott. The Clekk having reported that Parts XII. ami XIIT. of the Muuicip.d Corporations' Act, 18T6, h;v\ been gaz tted as extended to Oamaru, it was iv,so!vod, "T.iat application be made to the Gov rnov iu Council for the reservation (for the purpose of gi-anting the same to the Corporation of the municipality of Oamaru) of section 30, block 111, Awamoka district, for an intake for water supply." It was further resolved, '* That the Engineer be requested to prepare and lay before the next ordinary meeting of the Council a plan and description of that piece of land lying between the Immigration Barracks and the road to the Breakwater, with a view to making application under section 330 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,'t0 the Governor, to grant the same to the Council for extending the present public garden." The Council then went into Committee, and the reporters withdrew.
