KAKANUI ROAD BOARD.

A meeting of this Board took place at the offices of the Board, Tyne-street, on the 2Dth inst. Present: Messrs. Gilchrist (chair), Gemmell, Wade, Thompson, Allan, Aitkenhead, and Meek. minutes, &c. The minutes of last meeting "were read and confirmed, and the outward correspondence'ifaad and approved. POUND AT MAHENO. Intimation was received from the Otepopo Road Board, of their willingness to bear half the expense of erecting a pound at Maheno, at a cost not exceeding £4O. It was resolved that the offer be accepted, and the Clerk was instructed to inform the Otepopo Road Board that Messrs. Gemmell and Wheatley had been appointed a Committee to confer with the members of that Board and decide as to the site to be chosen. The attention of those two gentlemen was called to the sections facing the Kakanui Road, mentioned by Mr. Shakleton as being suitable. The Committee to report at next meeting of the Board. GENERAL BATE. It was resolved that a general rate of one shilling in the £1 be levied over the whole district for the year ending March, 1877. RANGER. Mr. George Lockwood was appointed Ranger the Board for three months at the rate of £4O per annum. VALUATOR. The Clerk having l'ead a circular from the General Government, in reference to the working of Acts affecting Road Boards, passed at the last Session of Parliament, it was resolved that tenders be invited from persons willing to act as Valuator to the Board. Valuations to be made in conformity with the provisions of the Rating Act. Tenders to be considered at a special meeting.
