NORTH OTAGO HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

The ordinary monthly Committee Meeting was held last night, at the Albion House, Mr. Steward in the chair. There were also present—Messrs. Earle, Spratt, M'Laren, Paterson, Main, and the Hon. Secretary (Mr. Simpson). Mr. Kidd forwarded a letter of apology for his absence.

After the minutes of tlie previous meeting had been read and confirmed, Mr. Main, on behalf of the Sub-Com-mittee appointed for the purpose of revising the priza schedule for the December and Autumn Shows, submitted the list, in which a few amendments were made, and then adopted. The following special prizes were also notified for the December Show :—By Mrs. J. Paterson, for bust decorated flowerstand, 10s. ; by tin same lady, for the best hand-bonnet, 10s. ; by Sir. Paterson, tor the best specimen heath in flower, 10s. ; by Mr. Kennedy, for best floral device, two framed pictures ; by Mr. Calder, for host collection vegetables, 10s. ; by Mr. Main, for the best brace of cucumbers, grown by an amateur. 7s. 6d. It being stated a number of other persons were anxious to olier special prizes, it was requested that intimation should be given to tixe Secretary as early as possible. Mr. Paterson proposed, and it was carried unanimously, that Messrs. Spratt and Lemon be appointed to canvass for special prizes ; the Secretary to advise the gentlemen named. It was further resolved that the SubCommittee meet on Monday next, and after incorporating the special prizes in the prize schedule, take steps to get the same printed and circulated. It was finally decided that the Show should take place on Saturday, the 16th December.

A proposal tliat all intending exhibitors should give two days' clear notice to the Secretary prior to the Show was lost on the casting vote of the Chairman. It was resolved that the Sub-Committee be requested to draw up a list of names of gentlemen to be asked to act as judges in the different classes, and that a special meeting of Committee be held on Monday, 16th inst., to consider the same. It was resolved that the Secretary at once take steps to engage the Volunteer Hall from Friday, 15th inst., to Monday, 18th inst., at noon. This concluded the business, and a vote of thanks to the chair brought the proceedings to a close.
