[BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.]'• .. j: * -v-".au .Friday. The House met at 2.30. Mr. RICHARDSON informed Mr. Murray that the Public "Works Statement would be brought down before the end of the month. Considerable debate ensued as to whether the House should go into Committee of Supply then or on Tuesday next. The Government favoured the latter as the more convenient course.
Several members ra : .sed an objection to debating th&iFinancial Statement before they had alLjther Government Bills. The objections were overruled, and it was ordered that-the House go into Committee of Supply on Tuesday. The remainder of the' afternoon was occitpied over the Local Elections Regulations BUJ>nd the^Levying^,of. Rates Bill. Little or., no objection was'raised against the principles of these 't(ills,"',but different members objected to 'details.'- In this discission a:lso urged that these bills should not-h.ave been brought down until after the Counties Bill was disposed of, as to do so was anticipatory legislation. Both bills were read a second time, and the Ho\ise rose at 5.30.
%_ln the Legislative Council the Friendly SocieiSes; Bill -was passed without any material alteration. A return of the proceeds from the sales of confiscated lands in each Province was ordered. „
