Tuesday, May 23. ; [Before His Honour Judge Ward.] j EMBEZZLEMENT. \ Edward Gillett Bickerton, convicted 01 the previous day, was brought up for sen tence. His Honor sentenced the prisoner 1< eighteen months' imprisonment with hafl! labour, in Duuedin Gaol. I ASSAULT. I David Buchanan was charged Avith indes cently assaulting one Ann Campbell, at tu| Commercial Hotel, Oamarn. on the 18tlt| April last. . I Mr. Hislop apx>eared on behalf of tIM Crown, and Mr. O'Meagher defended the prisoner. Mr. J. W. Bee was .chosen foreman of the Jury. The evidence of prosecutrix was substantially the same as that given in the Lower Court. [Left sitting.]
