ON THE COAST
Circuit Starts At Hokitika
FIELDS ARE GOOD
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) TE^E popular "West Coast circuit will be opened at Hokitika on Boxing E>ay x by the first day's programme of the Westland Racing Club. Class is also well represented, and owners will find it harder to win races than has been the case m years gone by. In the Maiden Handicap, Minerval, Ringing- Cheer and Thurnham Lass should attract most attention. Charmeuse has a big" weight m the Thompson Handicap, and Sohvit, m receipt of thirty pounds, is capable pi beating her. The latter is more than useful. Black Duke is an interesting contestant for the "Westland Cup, and theclass he will meet cannot be considered hfgh -class. Beau Geste and Pangolin will be his most serious opponents. Giggl^swick and Coll appear to have the best prospects m the Stewards' Handicap. In the Electric Handicap, the favorite division will probably be confined to Arrowmaid and Wise Choice. Assemble, Ramo and Rapina suggest being- a likely trio for the Rimu Hack Handicap. A good field will parade for the Christmas Handicap and investors will show most confidence m Sleipner, Flair and Miss Mercia. The concluding event, the Goldfields' Handicap, will find Assemble and Ramo again m request.
