A FORMIDABLE

CONTINGENT

SOUTHERN HORSES AT AUCKLAND

SHOULD PAY WAY

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Sputh Island Trotting Rep.) WHILE there are not the number of ** Canterbury horses booked for the trip to Auckland this Christmas as there usually are, and Logan Park is the only one of them to fail to survive acceptance day, the quality of the team is exceptionally good. Wrackler and Harold Logan are two of the most respected of the handicap horses m the country at the moment, and Arethusa and Red Shadow are probably two of the greatest three-year-olds to ever race m New Zealand. ' The unhoppled trotters are strong with John Mauritius, Kempton, Writer, Tonic, Utculele Lady, Stanley T, Surprise Journey and Wah. In their respective classes they represent the cream of the talent, and spec'al interest is sure to be shown m Stanley T. Native Prince, Carmel, Sir Author, Sir Guy, Free Advice, Proud Dillon, Country King, Tony Victor, Rawhitiroa, Baron Bingen and Pageant are the others m the southern lot, and when they are joined with L. O. Thomas* handy team from Wellington, m Purser, Glenrossie, Maxegin, and Blue and Gold, there will be plenty of material to keep the Auckland fans busy. Everyone of these horses have recent form to commend them with the possible exception of Pageant, and while he is to be taken north as a travelling companion for Harold Logan, he has thrown out hints of coming back, and the change of stables may make even Pageant liable to pay his way on the trip.
