Though a very proficient jumper, Mangani has not yet proved himself a weight - carrier and Lancer and Amorist, just below him iri the handicap, both represent better chances at the weight and distance. Lancer won the race last year and his recent racing and work, suggests that he is not far below his- best. Amorist has . • not suffered „any ill effects from his fall at Trentham and as it is his pet distance he must be regarded as the best-looking proposition m the field. ' Troilus and Apache are the' only others likely to give any trouble to the top weights. Riccarton have two worthy representatives m Amorist and Lancer. A small field of six was nominated for the Kennels Hurdles m which West Dome and Gold Mint should race well.
