HURDLE PROSPECT
Mountain Guide Three Times Second (From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) MOUNTAIN GUIDE is not a brilliant customer by any means, but^for his future prospects it is -m his favor that he sticks on well. Under Bert Rae's .training he has acted as runner-up m three successive hurdle events. ' - Bert has methods of his own m dealing with jumpers, and he has met with a fair amount of success with his team, more especially with Glenotus. He got hold of Mountain Guide after the Mountain Knight gelding had tailed to earn distinction on the -flat, but the racing the gelding indulged m. before Rae secured him for a jumping career hardened him, up' a lot. Mountain Guide still has to become a seasoned fencer, and it frill not be for want of experience if his mentor fails to make him. The gelding is only m N his fifth 'year I | as yet, but his three seconds to Glena Bay, Star Comet and Airtight respectively certainly throw out hope for I something better m the near future.
