Gordon hopes to have Harrogate right for the steeplechase at the Waverley meeting. #, # # The nominations received for • the 'Waverley Club's meeting are particularly good, and the fixture should be a successful one. * * * Huirangi Girl showed her ability to jump well and go fast at the Egmont winter meeting, where she met a better class than at the Hunt fixture. She cleared out from the field on Saturday m the Hunt Cup, taking her fences m dashing style. #■-*.• # San Fera went a good race for two miles m the Hunt Cup at Hawera, but then tired very badly. ■#.■■#••' Just John ran better than was expected m the Hunters' Hurdles. This gelding is not ready yet, and his prospects were not regarded seriously. However, he beat all but the winner, Pikimai. Just John will not be long m picking up a stake or two. ' • # • Grand Lupin has been running consistently but without any luck. His owner-trainer, H. Rayner, had the gelding looking m great fettle at Hawera last /Saturday, but Airtight proved a bit too good. ' * * • Broxt was backed and beaten m the Waverley Hack. He looked a winner at the bottom of the straight, but did not finish on. • * / Hopwood proved that he can hop all right by winning a double at the Hunt meeting. In each event he was last to i leave the mark, but -it did not take him long to gather up the field.

It has been stated that Paitonu will probably be kept for the Winter Cup, but he has been nominated for the Patea County Cup at Waverley and will also race at Trentham. * * • M. Gardner took Warflame and Potoaform to Hawera last Saturday, but neither did any good. w « * . Biohe is an improving four-year-old gelding, and the son ., of Bisogne ran two good races at the Hunt meeting, finishing second on each' occasion to Hopwood. # # # Flying Binge did. not run at the Hunt meeting, but is to be seen out at Waverley. ' . . ■• * • ■ • The veteran Yoma has been' going along nicely of late, and will probably run m the Cup at Waverley. • . # • . B. T. Bennett did not take Auctioneer to Hawera, though the halfbrother to King Mart has shown much improvement. Auctioneer, all going well, will run at Waverley.
