Received A Setback
(From "N.Z. Truth's 11 Palmerston North Rep.) . The winning career of Central Old Boys received a slight check at Palmerston North last week, when they had to share honors with Broadway, 3 all. THE match was one o£ the "best played this season, . and though a draw was a fair indication of the merits of the two teams, Broadwaymight quite easily have wpn had their forwards kept m position. ELon. Hoare was again the outstanding Central forward, and notched all three- of his side's goals. His total bag for the' three matches is eight. J, Sut ton, • centre-half, was equally at home on attack and defence and did some good work. B. Sutton, who kept goal for Central, had plenty to do and brought off some good saves. lnkpen, the Broadway goalie, also had his hands full, but though he was beaten three times by R. 'Hoare, he was not disgraced and was quite at home m dealing with the Invaders. N. Hansen, the left-back, was the best defensive player on the ground, and time and again he changed- defence into attack. Cookery, Duckworth and O'Brien were a trio of hard-working forwards, whose' chief fault was their inclination to get out of position. Phoenix carried too many guns for Central Old Boys B, and though the y3uths fought hard throughout they were not a match for their opponents who won 7-2. ■ . . '
