It is not that a plug is really worn, out that we are advised to throw it away, but rather because the points can no -longer be 'adjusted with any degree of accuracy except, by very ex-* perienced motorists. Constant discharging" of spark at. the. points wears them down. This -increases the gap, so that if the motorist doesn't keep adjusting the points he will not obtain best ignition results. And when he comes to making- such adjustments the chances are ten to one that he won't be able to do the job properly because of the very uneven way points wear.
