Patrick's Pal
F'VERY town has its canine populaJ2« tion, but m Greymouth there is a
dog that is conspicuous.
It is a big black retriever — and where you find the dog it is odds-on that its owner, Thomas Patrick Ryan, is not far away.
Ryan cannot move about the town, be it on foot or on his bicycle, but what his dog follows him.
In fact, it has become usual to say m Greymouth, when anybody is looking for T.P.R.: "He can't be far away, because his dog is just over there."
Tom is identified with the legal firm of Hannan and Seddon, and during the day can be seen rushing round the town on business bent, for he za a busy man always.
One of the leading lights m the Rugby code, Ryan takes a' prominent part m the world of sport.
Breezy of manner, he is always ready and pleased to extend the glad hand of friendship to the stranger within the gates — and do what he can to make the visitor look forward to a return visit.
