Sportsman Kiely

A HEARTY handshake: "Now, is there anybody you would like to meet and what can I do for you?" and then introductions all round.

Yes; to meet Ted Kiely, of Greymouth, for the first time, is to become personally acquainted with almost anybody who is anybody m the town.

Ted is one of the big guns m the world of sport on the Coast and is a strong supporter of the League code, being on the executive.

Anything you want to know about sport, who the "heads" are, what the various clubs are doing and so on — well, just ask Ted Kiely; anything that is not "m committee" he will tell you.

Ted, it was, who took Jamito, the boxer, under his wing, when the little chap visited Greymouth m 1926.

The humber house that sheeted the boxer, was largely due to Ted's hustle on the publicity side of things.

In company with all i League supporters he is now busily preparing for the forthcoming visit of the English team to Greymouth; everything will be done to make the visit a memorable occasion.

Kiely knows everybody — and everybody m Greymouth hands it to Kiely for his all-round sportsmanship.
