Last week at Wanganui he cleaned the pool. / The first day he won the Wanganui Steeplechase on Brigadier Bill, had a fall off Mister Gamp, and missed on Royal Heather and Peneus. On Saturday he started off by missing on Peneus. Then he won two on end. The big hurdle race was won by his patience on Red Puschla and then m the succeeding race he scored on Puwhero. And it may be In order to say that had McDonald been on the second horses m those two events he would have brought them home first. McDonald deserves the large measure of success he enjoys. He looks after himself, is always fit and as hard as nails, and when a horse makes a blunder he does not leave the saddle. The horse has to hit, the ground to shift him — and then nine times out of ten Allan gets up with the bridle m his hands! PERLE 18 A JEWEL DERIVE DE LEON has come forcibly * into the market for the Great Northern Hurdles. Since his second In the Century, he has every right to be favorably regarded.
