Having to ride a lightweight at Ashhurst last. week the jockey was called on "to go short." >' He started off full of good intentions, but coming home from the pictures the night prior to the meeting he fell ' foul of a plate of hot buttered toast-rand the toast won. Next morning,, being overweight, the saddle sitter was up bright and early and he hiked off to -the gas w«rks io throw a bit of coal about. " '.'
He didn't stay long, and he arrived back home vowing never again.
