COUPLE UP STABLE-MATES
JJAPPENINGS m connection with the Rowley sensation at Riccarton have been so remarkable as to be marvelled at by racing enthusiasts. Onlookers cannot feel otherwise than that the whole government of racing is farcical and that anything 1 is possible. But though stipendiary activity can be over-ruled, perhaps it may be possible for the Conference to see fit to protect the public m another direction — that of. bringing about the coupling of all horses from the same stable. This system has been m vogue m the trotting game for years and has given entire satisfaction. Why not at the gallops? '■ * Punters have been clamoring for the bracketing of all stable - horses for years — and not without reason. The .phange should be made. Are the main body of race-goers, who keep the game going, to be entirely ignored for ever and treated as "mugs." till the end of the chapter? Many oases could be quoted where — m the past — the public have been misled into doing their money "cold" when more than one horse has started from the same stable. However, the mere idea of racing following an example set by trotting may prove too much for the digestion of the Conference.
