It does not.send the passing traveller on his or her way with a good impression of the Queen City when the principal streets are a whirl of dust, with which is intermingled scraps of paper, and the various, forms of filth inseparable from busy thoroughfares that are unlcept and neglected. It must be apathy that is responsible for -the continued state of filthiness year after year; otherwise the merchants, who are as great sufferers as the promenading, public, would have made effective protest before now. Auckland's: street , sanitation methods are ineffective and prehistoric. .
