The Human Thirst
"To drink, when he is not thirsty, and to be ready to make loye at any moment, are the only things that distinguish some men from beasts," declares an ancient .vriter. • To drink when not thirsty is not a privilege of men alone. What about women at tea parties? And as for readiness to make love at any moment, have men a monopoly of that gift? But no doubt the ancient writer, when he wrote of men, included women. In a grammatical sense, man embraces woman. And sometimes he does it m an ungrammatical sense. Which again is a distinguishing mark between man and the lower animals.
