MAN'S INHUMANITY TO MAN, &c.

Dear "Truth," — 1 hopa your readers throughout New Zealand will help the inmates of the Tuarangi Home,' Ashburton, and similar homes 'm New Zealand, to get fair play and fair treatment. Now, no sane inmate looks for tantadlum tarts or puff de luxe, but we claim the right to have wellcooked food and honest treatment, and the men and women afraid to claim their rights are not worthy of rights here. Since May or June, 19i5, the meat, vegetables^ and i.orridge have been badly cooked four days out of every seven, and there is more badlycooked meat, vegetables, etc., taken to the pigs than would feed the, inmates twice over. Now, up to May, 1915, an eUlerly woman had charge of the kitchen here, and the inmates were all pleased and satisfied with the old lady's working, but those m charge told the, old Jady that she was looking too well after the inhiAt es and neglecting the staff. Well, the old lady resigned and left this home, and from June, 1915, up to the present day the food has been abominable. The master adopts the old Roman maxim of divide and govern, splitting the inmates into as many cliques as possible, thus destroying all hope oi better treatment. Thus many horost inmates are barred from complaining, as the bosses', pets would an 1 do 'swear to any statement made by one j who Claims his rights ani speaks the truth, and as for the Board of Control — thei North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board — well. Now, with three exceptions. Mrs. Herbert, the Rev. Mr. Archer and Mr. Mcßae, all the other members of the Board referred to are just rate-saving 1 pupils of the Reform Jrovernment. — I am. etc., "TRUTH IS GREAT AND WILL PREVAIL." Tuarangi Home, Asn*burton.
