AUCKLAND TROTTING.

Billy Orange has a big team m ! work, but he will ha\je a job to win a race m October, as his horses do not look ready to race.

The trotting season m Auckland opens four weeks from to-daj'. There are so many horses working at the Park now that permission has been given trainers to work horses slowly on the inside of the grass next the training track. This will keep the dirt track free to those who want to go fast. W. Kelsey's pair, Moneymaker and Promenade, are doing well, and Bill will be unlucky if he does not get a stake or two. Trainers at the Otahuhu track are now a very busy set, and some of their horses may be heard of at the , opening meeting. Aerial Bingen is hitting out m great style at tlie Park, and he will be a proposition for the best m the freelegged races. A. Julian is putting m a lot of time with Miss Rolfe, Hint and Mint Boy. The trio are coming along nicely. Ben Wallace, Puduma and Leewood are the busy bees of H. McNaughton's team. All are ready to be toned up at any time- . J. Johnston, at Otahuhu, is keeping Tiny Locanda up to the collar, and the chestnut is doing his work m good style. Another the same owner has is a gelding' by Gold Bell. C. Kasper is making a fuss of a filly by Logan Pointer — Rose Child. She is going along very nicely at Otahuhu, and the half-sister to Lord Rose should be ready to race at one of the early meetings. « Of late horses have been attending, both Alexandra Park and Otahuhu m increased numbers, and the outlook for the season is particularly, bright. . ■ T. Douglas has- his ' own private track, and only the little dicky birds can see what he does with his Waverley — Special Diamond mare. We all remember how "Tom" lifted the tote twice on end with ■ Pura Bell and the next time would be the hat trick. Fred. Cutts at present is only working Sidelight, and .the Otahuhu trainer has had his full share of bad luck. His gelding by Mountain King — Dulce was not a success and he has been turned into a paddock, and the gelding by. Advance is lame. However, one good one is better than a paddockful of "rummies," -and everybody would be delighted to see Fred, land a stake with Sidelight to even up a bit, of the bad luck he has experienced. Next Sunday, morning several of the residents -living near the Otahuhu track will be at their bedroom windo Vvs with revolvers and take a sitting shot at anyone Avho disturbs their slumber. On a recent Sunday morning a couple of gee-gees were pacing around the track before people were out of their nests. Somebody said it was "Togo" Lee with Oi*o and Pearl Fisher. Perhaps he is getting ready for • those meetings held at night m Brisbane. j W. J. Paul is tuning his team up, but the most forward of the lot are Pani and Bawldy Locanda. G. Paton is still busy with his three m Nita Bell, All Bell' and Ursaline. The opinions of Ursaline's ability differ, and while some say she can fly others - are not at all taken up with her. ' , While at Mangere recently I noticed Our Thorpe enjoying himself m a paddock at A. Cameron's. The one time crack and speed merchant looks as sound as a bell and owners of brood mares are not overlooking .him, especially those who hold that "like begets like." > H. Seed has Princess Drift and a five-year-old filly by Wildmoor—Agneta m work. The" half-sister to Nita Bell is very green yet. J. Shaw has his pair Nipper and Pitiroa iri fine form, and they will want for nothing on the score of condition when the season opens. J. T. Paul, at Otahuhu, has a big team m work, amongst them being Lady Dunrriorc, Black Prince, 'Tiki, War Tank and Normica Heir. All these are well-known performers, but there are several "ne'weys." and these include, a half-sister by Gold Bell to Lady Dunmore, also a three- year-old by Huia Dillon. The free-legged trotters De Why and King Capitalist are toiling at Otahuhu under the supervision of W. Osborne. The pair look well. The ti-otter Bellson has joined Sid. Groat's team. The same trainer has Derby Dillon, Boycott, Minna and Doctor Dillon doing useful work. Logan Queen is looking forward m condition. On appearances she should go fast. A three-year-old by Gold Bell has been placed :in work by A. Shepherd. Nabob is now m W. Orange's team. "Billy" will have a job to get this horse to catch a stake. B- Canham has a mare called Annie Emma m work. She is not nearly ready yetThe speedy Prize Pearl is now one of the regulars at the Park. •_• The pacer is still with N. Cunningham.
