Ridley Outs Jamito— "Bud Ain't Frettln'."---(By Cable.— From "Truth's" Sydney -^ Correspondent.) "Bud ain't frettin' " was the comment of burly Joe Waterman, who directs the fate of Bud Ridley, the nuggety kid from Seattle (U.S.A.) on the eve of his match against Jamito, whdch took place on Saturday last at the Sydney Stadium. In fact both Joe and his principal were grinning happily ' at the prospect of such a smasher as Bud is claimed to be getting a chance to prove that the Filipino is not invulnerable. A crowd of over ten thousand assembled to view the fight. Bud took the ring at 9st. 111 b. and Jamito scaled 9st. 21b. There was Immense interest m the encounter, it being Ridley's debut m Australia, and the reputation which had preceded him being such as to suggest that it would be" "some fight." The preliminary enthusiasm boiled over into intense excitement when Ridley, from the jump, commenced a heavy battery of fierce and fast attack on the Manila man. Jamito, by an occasional hot rally, seemed likely to turn the tide, particularly as the Seattle puncher bad not completely recovered from his long journey and found the heat ; terribly oppressive. Each time, however, - Ridley responded gamely with hard body punches and an occasional right to the jaw. Both tired over the last few rounds, but Ridley more than held his own and received the verdict amidst absolutely unanimous applause. A lot of money changed hands over the fight, Jamito going out a three to one on favorite m the betting.
