At Auckland

BURYING THE DEAD Standardised Coffins Suggested. Wednesday's Auckland "Herald" contained the news that "Mr. C. Weaver, president of the Waterside Workers' Union, had offered to provide a body of workers to assist with burials and m other ways, and the offer had been gladly accepted by the Hospital Board." Talking- to "Truth's" representative, Mr. Weaver said that the information published was misleading, as he was only a working- man and not m a position to supply gravediggers, but he told the Board that delays m making coffins and burying the dead could be got over if the Hospital Board made a standard coffin and applied foi 1 gravediggers. He (Mr. Weaver) told them he could find both if the Board would pay them when found. And "Truth" wants to add to Mr. Weaver's statement the comment that no man has worked harder m giving voluntary assistance m curbing a disease that should have never been allowed to get a hold m Auckland.
