While the "heads" of the 'Liance are booming their Canadian importations, who are seeking to prove how Canada is prosperous and "dry." it occurs to "Truth" that those Canadian "uplifts" are badly wanted over at Montreal or thereabouts. "The Daily Province," of Vancouver, 8.C., on July 4 last, pubdished the following under the heading I " 'Dry* Leader Faces Serious Charges — John H. Roberts Said to Have Accepted I 'Pin Money' from Montreal Woman".: j "Montreal, July 4.— Charges that John H. Roberts, honorary secretary of the Dominion Alliance, and high m the counsels of\ the Vigilance Association, I had accepted 300 dollars as 'pin money' and had been guilty of immoral conduct In her disorderly house, were made by Edna Robinson; testifying to-day m the 10,000 dollars slander action brought by Mr. Roberts against exController E. W. Villeneuve. I A cheque for 150 dollars, drawn by Miss Robinson on the Bank of Com--1 merce ln favor of 'Jack Travers,' was produced by Mr. McKeown, and the ! witness identified it as one she had given to Mr. Roberta m April of last year.
