ALLEGED SHOE STEALERS.
At! tlie Dunedin police court on February' 11 a number 'of charges were laid arising out of practically one ofieace. Two lads, aged 15 and 17, were charged. m the -juvenile court with having stolen three 'pairs of ladies' and one pair, of gentlemen's boots, from John Simon, and George Wallace was' charged with having received the same goods, knowing them to have, been dishonestly obtained. The Chief Detective said the lads had been working for Mi Simon and had been induced by the" adult Ito commit the thefts. The boys got- nothing - for their actions— they just handed, the goods to the man out of the shop when nobody was looking. They , were offered money, but never received it. Magistrate Bartholomew ,' said he Wdtildn't deal with the boys tnrtH the man was dealt with. •' j' ' ; '• '. ' •The Chief Detective said.it would .■ be necessary to inquire into the man's character, and asked for, ' and was granted, a remand till the- 19th inst. •■■: '
