BELATED BELL.

John Bell, an old, grizzled man of 69 years, who was stone deaf, was arraigned on the serious charge of doing grevious bodily harm to one William Bourne of Tararu. His Honor, addressing the Crown Prosecutor, pointed out the impossibility of proceeding with the base, lin.less accused could hear what was happening, or be assisted by counsel. His Honor could not, m justice, allow the matter to proceed, and directed that the Justice Department assign counsel to Bell. Mr Richmond undertook the, defence and the case was put back till later m the session.
