SWIMMING.

Hk Ponsonby Swimming and Life-Sav-teg Ctab held their second annual harbor nee on Saturday, the course being from Northcote jetty to Shelly Beach, a distance slightly less than a mfle and a hart. Of the 34 competitors 31 took to the water, and all 'finished, the winner, H. Sing (llrain 30sec) winning easily from D. Pugh and . <J. Crook. The backmaxkers were .handicapped out of it, and though wind and tide assisted the competitors, the water was rather choppy. The weather was ideal for seaside enjoyment, Sheliy Beach was patronised by a very large crowd, side-shows and the strains of the city band adding to the enjoyment of the spectators. The prizes were £5, £2 10s and one guinea . respectively, and the winner holds, for one* year, the handsome challenge shield presented by the Wai Wai Mineral Water Compaay.
