TO-DAY'S CARNIVAL. The Welling 0 * 1 Amateur Athletic Club open their season at the Athletic Park this afternoon, when a huge programme is- set down tor competition. The events include sprints, hurdle race, walking, and I cycling races, and m the 100 metres race j the pick of New Zealand's sprinters will ■ compete Not at all the least interesting will be the re-appearance of Mr H. I E Kerr (the Australasian walking chamI pion) who Avill attempt the record held jby Lamer for the 35000 metres walk. Hitherto the carnival has been held at 'the Basin Reserve, but this year the venue has been changed to Ihe Athletic Park. The price of admission is nominal, and as the weather promihes to be fine there should be a record attendance..
